This is heartbreaking to see that someone will even do such a thing. Rape its self is bad but back then raping a white woman and commiting a crime was jail time off rip so this isnt something to even lie and play about.
After watching the video the story was very heartbreaking to watch because of how unfair they treated young innocent black men this remind me of the movie on Netflix “When They See Us” white women falsely accusing black innocent men’s for rape has went on for generations. Victoria ways were just pure evil because she knew exactly what she was doing ruining them young boys life’s now they will have to live with that feeling forever.
Watching these videos really upsetted me because women would use their advantage to lie on these black men knowing no one would believe those boys. They are only teenage boys who life was ruined with humiliations, trauma and accusations. These story also reminded me about the central park 5 its crazy how history repeats itself and African American men are always on the bad side of the stick.
Watching these videos was sad and upsetting because it’s unfair how innocent men were wrongfully convicted of rape. I feel like that’s one of the worst things you can ever falsely accuse somebody of. This story does remind me of Emmett Till story, but also like the exonerated 5. Watching their story on Netflix was also hard
The Scottsbro story was completely heartbreaking. It crazy that something like this was even legally allowed to happen. This event completely ruined these boys life and they received nothing in return
The Scottsboro story was very sad and disappointing . It seems like if the 9 black men were telling the truth they would never believe them because it was against a white women. They had no evidence and the story kept changing. Its also crazy because this was not the first time this has happened in history where white women falsely accused black men of rape that they never did.
Yes, they would’ve never believed them and unfortunately I’ve heard of cases similar over the past years.
These videos made me very very angry, becausen it was just horrific watching these innocent boys be wrongfully convicted of rape. Those lynch mobs kept trying to get the boys from the prison so they could kill them. The story changed from fighting to now all of a sudden raping two white girls. They continued to receive hatred all because of a lie. This story reminded me a lot of The Emmett Till story because of all these lies and hatred towards the black boys.
After watching its sad that it took 9 boys lives to be wrongfully convicted for a rape they didn’t commit for black and white people to finally come together and march as one. The communist did their part and kept fighting for them and i appreciate that part of the story even though originally Samuels reasoning wasn’t to really help but for fame. Those boys went thru a lot of trauma to only in the end still deal with PTSD causing them to either kill themselves, or hurt someone else landing them back to what was now a norm again. The entire story was just sad because not only white women do this same crime today but black women do too. At some point when are the women going to be held accountable for falsely accusing men of rape. Not all cases are that way but seeing it happen to them and seeing it happen now to men today in the 20th century is cringing. Victoria was just all out evil and knew she was wrong & lying but had no sympathy for those boys however wanted to sue NBC for portraying the truth about her. I was at a lost for words when she resurfaced and did that.
I agree with the spirit of your comment. Yes, Victoria was a piece of work. One can only wonder when false accusations are prosecuted as vigorously as those they accuse. Such matters reinforce my belief that there is no correct way to do the incorrect thing.
The scottsboro story was disappointing and predictable because the story has been played out multiple times. It’s sad to say but no mater if it was one, five or nine black men, the whites are always quick to blame for their benefit. In the beginning when it was said that white women aren’t classified as ‘pure’ unless wanted, pined over or rapped by a black man. That idea is annoying and honestly makes no sense to me.
I agree with you taylor the scottsboro story was very sad and shocking. It was very sad how the jury sentenced 8 of the boys to death. How they hung little boys was very disturbing. Its crazy just because they were black men the whites wanted accuse them of rape without any actual evidence. In the film it mentioned how white women were not pure unless pined over, rapped, or wanted by a black man. How whites viewed black men as was disgusting.
The Scottsboro Boy story is just one of the many variations of the same story within history. Whether it be these nine boys, Emmett Till, or the Central Park 5, each story consists of the same characteristics. They were all wrongly convicted and treated unjustly due to the color of their skin, something they cannot control. The lengths white people went to in order to hurt African Americans, are disgustingly shocking. The fact that they tried to by pass law enforcement, just to inflict pain on these nine young men, and put themselves in harms way says a lot. Aside from the physical pain, there was that of mental and emotional. The nine young boys were humiliated and horribly talked about. They stripped them of any humanity the boys believed they had, simply because they wanted to. It is evident, that an ongoing problem is still present today, racism.
These videos are very sickening. It was hard to watch those nine young men be accused of raping two white women. Those boys were just teenagers and for them the be charged just because they were African American was wrong and unjust. This story reminds me of the Emmett Till story and how his accuser came out and said that he didn’t whistle at her.
These videos made me very angry. It was just horrific watching innocent boys be wrongfully convicted of rape. The story changed from fighting to now all of a sudden raping two white girls. Day after day they received hatred all because of a lie. The story reminded me of The Emmett Till story.
these videos made me VERY angry because the story completely changed. the story went from a group of black boys fighting a group of white boys for stepping on one of their hands, to a group of black boys (ages 13-19) raping two white girls. these black boys went through so much trama and received so much hatred all because these white women lied.
in this video nine boys was convicted for a crime and wrongly accused of rape. these boys were just teenagers getting accused of raping two women. the only reason that they were charge was because them being African American which is sad. Even everybody in the courtroom was white while only the 9 teenagers were African American. These videos was very interesting to watch to learn more about the case.
This video really interest me and made me want to learn more about the “scottsboro boys”. In 1931 nine boys from the ages of 13-19 were accused of rape after having a fight with a group of white boys. Lynch mobs kept trying to get the boys from the prison so they could kill them. “The Scottsboro Boys”, as they became known and their case is now widely considered a miscarriage of justice, highlighted by all white juries.
The Scottsboro Boys story was an all too familiar story. I say this because these nine young men and grown went through a traumatic period of trials, accusations, and public humiliation from the southern town they were raised in. Much like the story of what happened to Emitt Till. Nonetheless it was a very interesting documentary.
I agree after watching this video it reminded me of Emmett Till.
